New system equipment carrier

KAISER System equipment carrier for heat bridge-free electrical installation

Electrical installation in insulated facades is always a potential weak point for energy-efficient buildings, because heat bridges can occur as a result of the penetration of the insulation system. Against this background, KAISER, well-known for manufacturing innovative installation solutions, has developed a new type of system equipment carrier and presented it at the Light+Building 2016 trade fair in Frankfurt.

Until now, even good quality composite thermal insulation systems have been negatively affected by the installation of luminaires, motion detectors, switches, sockets or intercoms. In addition to a reduction in the insulating effect, these installations can permit the entry of moisture, which results in mould. The new system equipment carrier has been specifically designed for heat bridge-free electrical installation in or on insulated facades, so it is ideal for use in energy-efficient buildings. The equipment carrier is fixed in the facade by means of a single knock-in anchor, and is suitable for insulation thicknesses from 160 to 310 mm. After fixing, the insulating material can be fitted immediately, without any drying time, and gapless around the system equipment carrier. In this way, the requirements of air-tight and heat bridge-free electrical installation as specified in DIN 18015-5 are met securely.

Simplified installation – high flexibility

In addition, the system equipment carrier offers an electrician plenty of space for his wiring work. The clean conduit feeding makes the pulling-in of installation conduits up to a diameter of M25 problem-free. Universal screw-on surfaces are used to fix devices to the external facade. These devices are very sturdy, which prevents over-tightening of the screws with which the devices are fixed. System equipment carriers with multiple-device front plates are available for the installation of switches, sockets or, for example, entry-phones. Simply by breaking out the front plates, two-way or three-way combinations can be carried out next to one-way accessories without much difficulty.

Cameras, luminaires and other devices can be fitted up to a weight of 10 kg and an outreach of 160 mm. By using extension elements, the system equipment carrier – which consists of an innovative insulating material with integrated conduit and cable entries – can be adapted in 10 mm steps to the relevant insulation thickness without the need for cutting to shape. It is supplied inclusive of fixing material in the form of two knock-in anchors of different lengths.
